About Pollensa
Pollensa is a quaint place located in the island’s northern part against the impressive backdrop of the Tramuntana mountain range. Like other Mallorca cities, Pollensa is two places, the old town, and the port.
History
Founded by the Romans in 123 B.C., Pollensa tells a story steeped in history. It still preserves remains from the talayotic period dating back to 3,000 years ago and from the Romans like the old Roman bridge – El Pont Romà built across the Torrent de Sant Jordi to provide the town with water.
Don’t miss out the walk to the Calvari Steps leading up to the chapel and the statue of the Mare de Deu del Peu de la Creubut (the mother of The Lord God at the foot of the cross ). It is a picturesque walk between cypress trees and worth every one of the 365 steps to the hilltop as the wide-ranging sweeping perspectives from the summit are amazing!
Together with the historic center of Alcúdia, Pollensa has been classed as Cultural Interest Heritage and a Historical Artistic Group.
Today is a cosmopolitan and elegant city that enchants the crowds with its narrow streets lined with natural stone houses, art galleries, jewelry shops, leather retailers. Its main square is the place to come for excellent restaurants, cafes, and people watching. It has a Sunday market and an annual international music festival.

Beaches near Pollensa
If your perfect vacation day includes soaking up the sun or swimming in the sea, there are a few beaches to choose from around Pollensa. We have picked a few.
Long and sandy, Puerto Pollensa Beach is great for a family-friendly excursion.
D’Albercuix Beach, a small sandy bay between Port de Pollença and Punta de l’Avançada.
Formentor Beach, long and narrow, known for its very fine-grained white sand.
If crowds aren’t your thing and you are in the mood for a long walk, Cala Boquer will astound you with its untouched nature, rocky mountains landscape, and crystal clear water.
Cala San Vicente comprises three beaches with stunning views of the peninsula Formentor and the mountain Cavall Bernat.
