Going Royal, Royal Caribbean

When it comes to epic vacations, the most awarded ship in the world dials adventure way, way up. Named Best Large Cruise Ship, Best for Entertainment, and Best Individual Ship, Allure of the Sea became the world’s largest passenger ship upon her launch in November 2009, taking the place of Oasis of the Seas.

Normally based in the US, this floating masterpiece changed port to Barcelona and sailed the Mediterranean between May and October 2015. Palma de Mallorca was awed by the majestic first visit to its port in the same year.

With 2,7052 cabins spanning over 16 decks, capacity for over 8000 passengers and crew members, a double-deck dance hall, a theatre seating 1,380, an ice skating rink, seven distinct “neighborhoods,” 25 dining options, jaw-dropping, Broadway-style entertainment, and superior onboard shopping, the Allure of the Sea is one of the world’s largest cruise ship and most unique, fascinating, incredible cruising adventure!

The flagship of the award-winning global brand Royal Caribbean, the vessel which has redefined cruising in the Caribbean, Allure of the Seas®, has long been one of the most famous ships among couples and families. It boasts an innovative ‘neighborhood’ concept that provides travelers with the opportunity to choose experiences within seven themed areas based on their styles, preferences, or tastes.

It is hard to summarize the plethora of things to do and attractions onboard, from rock climbing to flow boarding and zip-lines, ice skating rinks, and a jogging track that extends for nearly half a mile around the deck. From jazz to karaoke, disco dancing to waltzes, musicals to art auctions. From the central park boulevard lined with restaurants and a Coney Island-style boardwalk to a bar that travels between decks as a lift, not to mention the exciting international variety of restaurants and cafés to indulge, Starbucks included. It almost makes life ashore appear dull.

Huge but perfect down to the tiniest details, the Allure of the Seas is almost a miracle of modern engineering and design and is ‘the’ American Dream come true.

A little perspective for you

–  If set upright, measuring 1,187 feet, Allure of the Seas is 124 feet taller than the Eiffel Tower.

– Allure of the Seas’ length is approximately equal to three and half regulation-size soccer/football fields

– Allure of the Seas is 5.11 times longer than a Boeing 747 Jetliner

– Allure of the Seas was constructed out of 500,000 individual parts

– 158,503 gallons of paint were used

– The electrical cables onboard Allure of the Seas would stretch approximately the distance from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to Juneau, Alaska

And if you are thinking about your next holiday or honeymoon trip, don’t think twice: Royal Caribbean, of course!
