Rally Clásico Isla de Mallorca 2026, Record Grid, Elite Competition, and Romain Dumas Headlining

From 6–8 March 2026, the Rally Clásico Isla de Mallorca returns with its strongest edition yet — 106 teams, 14 nations, and a record-breaking entry list that confirms its status as one of Europe’s leading historic rally events.

Now in its 22nd year, the rally continues to grow in both scale and competitive depth, attracting professional drivers, seasoned historic specialists, and rare machinery rarely seen in a single event.

15 Stages. 500+ Kilometres. No Margin for Error.

The 2026 route features 15 timed stages — two more than last year — covering over 500 kilometres, including 170 kilometres of closed-road competition.

Thursday opens with three night stages, immediately putting pressure on crews to find rhythm in darkness. Friday brings the rally’s defining challenge: the ascent of Sa Calobra — a technical, narrow mountain road carved into Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana. Precision braking, tight hairpins and rapid elevation changes make it one of Europe’s most demanding tarmac stages.

Six further stages on Saturday will decide the podium before the ceremonial finish at Puerto Portals, the rally’s long-standing base and parc fermé.

Historic Machines, Serious Firepower

The 2026 grid represents 25 automotive brands with an average vehicle age of 40 years — underlining the event’s authentic historic credentials.

Among the headline cars:

• 1939 BMW 328 Roadster (the oldest entry)
• Ferrari 348 Challenge
• Porsche APAL (1963)
• Ferrari New Stratos

Five former World Rally Championship cars will also compete, including:

• Renault Clio Maxi
• Lancia Delta Integrale HF
• Subaru Impreza WRC
• Peugeot 306 Maxi
• Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI (ex–Tommi Mäkinen)

This is not a parade of classics — it is competitive historic rallying at full pace.

Romain Dumas Raises the Bar

The major headline for 2026 is the participation of French driver Romain Dumas, whose resumé reads like motorsport legend.

A three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and FIA World Endurance Champion, Dumas brings elite-level pedigree to Mallorca. His experience across endurance racing and World Rally Championship competition adds serious weight to this year’s field.

He will drive a 1997 Peugeot 306 Maxi — one of the most iconic Kit Car-era rally machines — and immediately becomes one of the favourites for overall victory.

For the rest of the field, it is a rare opportunity: competing head-to-head against one of the most accomplished drivers in modern motorsport.

Motorsport Meets Digital Competition

In a first for the rally, a virtual version of the Sa Calobra stage will run alongside the physical event. Through SimRacing, competitors across Spain can tackle the digital climb in a national online competition titled Rally Spring Clásico Mallorca.

The initiative launches with a symbolic duel between Romain Dumas and Spanish simulation champion Mike Coll from a simulator installed in Puerto Portals — bridging traditional rally heritage with modern motorsport culture.

Competitive, International, Established

Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom lead the 2026 entry list, joined by teams from France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia.

With record participation, expanded stages and world-class drivers on the start list, the Rally Clásico Isla de Mallorca 2026 delivers what serious rally fans expect: demanding roads, authentic historic machinery and genuine competition. This is Mallorca at full throttle
